I'm not sure if this is the case with just mods, or if it happens between standard users too.
I assume it was implemented as a way to let you know you have a message from someone?
Anyways, I have had a warning message from Acert about something I did accidently emblazoned upon the website above everything always. Above all the forms and above all the topics on the main page. I have waited a while for it to go away as I assumed it was just there to serve as a temporary reminder for my sins, but I have decided to mention it finally.

Okay nevermind. Apparently I just had to hit the red arrow down several times? Either that or someone just fixed it within minutes of this post.
Ignore this post if I just fixed it myself

If you hit the straight red arrow you will mark it as "read" and it goes away.
If there is another message you haven't read, then it will appear as well, in chronological order.

The other bent arrow is for replying, which will also make it disappear from the main pages.

Maybe this will be more apparent in the site update.
