Was this episode crazy or what?

They made Kakashi look unbelievable. The animation was on a really high level. Haven't ever seen the anime look quite this good during combat. I noticed strong elements of it in the last 2 eps and definitely noticed signs when Shikmaru's team -- when Asuma was alive -- initially got into it with Hidan and Kakuzu. This episode confirmed what I've been seeing hints of for a while now. They appear to have made some serious improvements on their style of animation during combat.

Not to say they didn't do amazing things before -- but man -- they kicked ass with this ep.

Shikamaru also looked pretty unbelievable. This is a great sign of things to come if the fights continue to be animated at such a high level. Most of what didn't seem so exciting looking in the manga -- at least not quite as exciting looking as what was showcased in this episode -- was made to be so much more amazing and substantial once it finally got animated. They tossed more action in there and it was really well done. They set a very high standard with this episode and I hope they keep it up for the remainder of this encounter and for future fights to come.

They clearly appear to have gotten some serious work done when they were doing fillers. Hope there are no more fillers from now on though :D

yeah this animation traditionally has only been used in the naruto , sasuke showdown and sarutobi vs orochimaru. I really hope they continue to use this style for at the very least , all the big showdowns!

We are really picking up the pace and pending theres no more fillers full of Naruto shouting "SORAAA" for hours on end, we'll be hitting the real meaty bits of the manga soon!

Well they can get rid of the fillers but that means Naruto will have to take a break at some point, just as D Gray-man has.

The animation was ok, but the art was pretty terrible in some places, especially Choji's facial expressions.

But its still better than having reused cels much like many of the other battles sequences.

I thought the art was great and in cases where it was clearly toned down I didn't mind because they did such an amazing job all around.

They need to get the team that did the Sakura & Chiyo vs Sasori fight along with this episode plus the older rock lee vs kimmimaro episode and make them permanent fixtures :)
