Have we learned nothing?? Don't judge a game's graphics solely on screens. Even fight night round 3 was made to look terrible because of screens, but during ingame play all of that changed.

Nice pic :)

Give me a shout when they have more than three characters in a tiny gameworld thank you very much.

Building new graphic engines are expensive and time consuming to develop, especially with all the effects and such that need to go in them now(which is why alot of developers are licensing UE3). The Offset engine is still a ways off, at least another year before we will even see the first game out using it.

Give the developers time, games in the first year won't really look that much better than what can currently be done on PCs.

I concur, graphics are all relative in my opinion. Some people claimed that Riddick looked better than COD2 but Riddick had maybe 3 or 4 characters on screen and a few blinking monitors.

In fantasy land there are no memory restrictions and you simply have to imagine graphics into existence! :)

I can't imagine what people are going to say when the next-gen GTA doesn't have characters that look like Solid Snake or Marcus Phoenix!

Gears of War owns this game graphically...seriously, GRAW should look amazing...yet it looks like GR2 with a face lift...

game looks amazing in my eyes

dont forget this has been compressed to 640x360 = total of 230,400 pixels
actual game on high-def = 1280x720 = total of 921,600 pixels

921,600 / 230,400 = 4. therefore in this video, your character may be made up of 100,000 pixels but in final version it will be like 400,000 pixels which is a huge difference

WOW, I guess Nintendo was right when they say that the video game industry has gone downhill. Look at this, instead of commenting on how GOOD or BAD the game will play, everyone is looking at how "high-res" the textures on the characters are and count how many frames per second a game is outputting. People are also complaining about the resolution of a game (rumor has it that PGR3 was upscaled to 720p) and how "realistic," how "next-gen," or how "CGI-ish" a game looks. It's sad when gamers judge a game from THESE perspective.

I don't care how this game looks, I just want to know if it will offer me anything different than the previous or current Ghost Recons. Honestly, all of the previous iterations felt like an updated patch instead of a new game.

Looks like in-game news report style footage with the shaky camera movement and DOF, the gameplay footage on the roof looks better imho with an awesome sense of scale.
Yeah, i paid attention to the roof part and that REALLY does look quite impressive,
all the buildings in front of the soldier and the draw distance is nothing short of impressive, i've decided to just wait and not draw any conclusions, that would be ridiculous if i'd do that.

But didn't you know you could tell how good or bad a game will play based on its graphics? Cause better graphics obviously equalls better gameplay. /sarcasm

Anyway, Ghost Recon and Ghost Recon 2 are fairly different games from each other. On the other hand GR2 and GR2: Summit Strike are really no different gamplay wise since Summit Strike is really just a stand alone expansion. I love the way the GR games play, so if all it does is offer more of the same or just offers a bit of new stuff I will not be dissapointed at all.

Will there be a hidden "torture the president" minigame? That would clinch the deal for me. Ubisoft is French so there is hope yet. :)

This game looks ok, but it is being held back by both the Xbox and PC ports. When the PC catches up with the 360 then we will start seeing series like COD, MOH, Splintercell, etc looking next gen. At the moment all these PC ports are just a midway point between xbox and the next gen console war.

It looks good, the video could have been clearer but it's a reasonable size for everyone to download. They should release a HD version of the same video to get a better idea how the game will really look on a HD display.

I never played the other Ghost Recon games but I don't think I like drawing the blue/red bubbles around enemy and objectives, seems like it's holding your hand too much. I hope you can turn that off.

GUYS GUYS, READ THIS!

QUOTE:

Thanks for linking that bsc. Should be popping up on all the sites pretty soon.

One thing to note. The game (IMO) looks great, but you are NOT looking at high-res textures from the game. This video was produced a while ago and all the HD textures were not put in yet. This is meant to give you a glimpse of in-progress gameplay but mainly to explain a core feature of the game.

You will see a LOT of videos in the next 2 months, and most will have these textures in them. I will try to get some stuff on marketplace so you can run it on your HDTVS and see the difference. Its truly jaw dropping, but don't take it from me! Wait until you see it for yourself.

If you guys have questions, lemme know!

The low res textures mystery was solved .
I think that we can stop this argument now.

It's a freaking work in progress movie? How can you show any progress in a movie dairy when you show the final pruduct in the first page of the dairy? HUH?

There's a developer of GRAW on the IGN forums, here's what he's saying.

Guys,

The footage looks quite good, but it was taken a while ago, and the HD textures were not implemented in that version of the game.

The screenshot was taken with these textures in, so that is the difference you are seeing. You will see more and more videos in the next 1-2 months, and as we progress you will see HD textures and graphics that will blow you away.

The game that ships will look better than that screenshot if you can believe it. But wait and see for yourself before you trust me

The game that ships will look better than anything you have seen online. But, when in doubt, rent. Or play the demo.

Someone asking if it can ever look as good as the E3 footage.

Should look better. E3 was a long time ago. But you be the judge

Demo definitely coming, he's just not sure when yet.
