Oneechanbara X for Xbox 360
2006-07-20 11:19:31 by BlimBlim
Here are the first "scans" of Oneechanbara X, published by D3 for Xbox 360. It's obviously a very high class game, but the PS2 version was quite fun according to some people, so... To be released this winter in Japan.
Update : Better quality scans.

Let me further state that the graphics are NOT top notch or even average. The player character is okay, but environments are super basic. The addicting gameplay makes it fun, but this game will never be a visual champion.

Thanks for the detailed description MrMikeMa. That actually sounds like fun.
I read somewhere that this game will not be part of the Simple 2000 series and will instead be a full priced title. If that's true, I wonder if it's just because of the extra costs of next-gen development, or if they actually have the confidence in Oneechanbara to really take it to the next level and make a deeper, bigger game. Maybe with more than 3-6 levels, true co-op play, etc.

Seriously -
For me, this is a MUST HAVE title. I am just hoping it is NOT a Japanese only title, or I will have to find some way around the coding to play it.
As someone stated, you will not be bowled over with the graphics. However, the art direction for the girls is fantastic, and the gameplay is excellent. If this IS a full priced update, I can see this game being updated graphically, and perhaps some new levels added. It's definitely a highly addictive action title.

"or if they actually have the confidence in Oneechanbara to really take it to the next level and make a deeper, bigger game"
This may be very true. I know that Oneechanbara won some kind of award, so I am sure it's probably the best selling budget title

I think if this franchise is ever going to make it to the US, it's going to be now. They're going full budget on this one, which might mean that they have a bigger vision than a small local release. But it definitely means that they'll be in trouble if they have to rely on 20k copies being sold in Japan.
Hell, we're getting Far East of Eden, which I believe is a first for that franchise. So why not this one?

Vaelwynd -
I really hope you are right.
The gameplay is this game is very tight, and extremely fun to play. I would love to see what they would add with a full budget, and hopefully part of that budget will go to the localization of the game for US release.
Perhaps is Dead Rising is a smash hit in the US, they will jump on the zombie bandwagon.
