The creepy thing about this game was the people who were actually crowded around the booth. The game was extremely popular at TGS, but it was always middle aged japanese men. I dont think the premise of the game is all that bad, if your a teenage girl.

The gameplay vid they have is the actual gameplay. Think Dating sim but with the objective of training a girl instead wanting to date. Your the manager trying to make a star through a combination of choices. Basically its for perverted old men to star at.

Yup, that's what the gameplay's about. A Sim game. Lookin' great graphically, BTW.

Sim games are quite popular in Japan, but I doubt a game like this will ever cross overseas... as it seems the japanese are the only ones who can actually play ALL kinda games.

In america it's "break the mold, and you suck"... "If I cannot shoot it down, it sucks"

I think that attitude is what sucks, but oh well. Guess I'll never get to play little strange games like this unless I learn some japanese.

Um, thats not true at all, in america all types of games sell well, even brain training who nobody thought would sell sold alot. Its japan that wont change their ways, most of what they play is japanese rpgs, and non-games, they dont wont play any western games at all.

Games sure are fun.

I just love the stupid generalizations being made here. You can tell the japanophiles from the people who just use their brains every once ina while.

yeah, that's what i figured! older guys, even those in their 20s, playing this game is what's creepy.

I think that europe and the US produce some of the most diverse games in the industry. From FPS, to point and click adventure, to RPG, to 3rd person shooters, action, and adventure games. Just because the market isn't flooded with baking and traffick officer sims doesn't mean that the games produced are not diverse. Most people are just making a general statment because they are biased towards japanese games.

I wouldn't ply this game because I hate the whole "Idol" crap and this seems like it's for the middle aged idol fanatics in japan.

You're biased towards western games.

I was just saying i'd love to get this kinda different games once in a while, besides your everyday "fps, point and click, adventure, 3rd person shooters, etc"

We've got plenty of those

Japanese have really odd sense I agree with it. Japan is where many thing that should be treated cautiously like violent or sexual contents are extremely popular.

Also they show their extremely biased taste on western culture. First, they just don't understand it. For example, here is one Japanese's private review on Condemned: "It is fun basically-but characters are ugly. If they are pretty(well, I guess that 'pretty' means abnormal physical proportion and biiiiig eye?) the game would be much better" Secondly, uh, you know what? They consider Japanese 360 users as 'betrayer' because it is a product of Microsoft, which is American company!

Well well, that's japanese and, what I want to say is, Viva Pinata is 10 times more cute.

Im sorry, but I cant agree with what your saying here, atleast part of it. Ive been living, working, and going to school in japan for 4 months now(not a long time.) and I can say that they dont have a hate for MS or anything american. The brand loyalty thing is overated too. While its true most dont understand our culture,(Do we even have culture?) but they try to mimick it as much as possible in certian areas. If thier was a hate for MS, wouldnt they have went to a differant OS for thier PC's? Japan is a staunch supporter of MS when it comes to PC's, the reality is the games suck here for the xbox and 360. Its getting far better now, but the 360 launched with something like 6 games of which one was a PS2 port, one was a horrid version of tetris, and another was a convini sim. Would you buy a console with that?

Man, 4 month is not sufficient to understand Japanese. I live in Korea, neighborhood country of Japan, so I know a little bit of Japanese. I'm sure that you just didn't experienced it cos' Japanese does not express their opinion directly. Most of them are extremely biased and I'm sure of it. Rumor has it that(and it seems to be not bogus) some game shops dealing with 360 in Japan put a warning on 360 system corner like "Before buying this you'd better think carefully" You know what it means? I think you did understand it. And you said about OS-I know what you mean, but trust me. If they think that their favorite(or their company's) products still have 'possibility', they are against its rival, especially when the rival is foreign one: In the early 90s, they had their own PC system like PC98, MSX2, etc. Formal x86 PC could not invade Japanese market because they tended to use their product. After they fell, they started to use x86 PCs. They still believe that PS3 and Wii is competitive(well, Wii is actually competitive) so they are against 360. One of my friend said that he has foreign friends on Japan who have old Xbox and they are treated a bit differently because of that.

And, right, you were right that Japanese are trying to mimick western culture. They are a good model of imitation. BUT, I know the 'certain areas'-Their mechanic products. In culture? yeah, Some guys are doing it on games or pictures. Dead Rising is good example. But that's just one example. You know that society's main stream, eh?

Lastly, you once more got the point of launching title-I agree. IT SUCKS. But now they have Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey in the end of the year. But even with them I don't think that 360 will succeed in Japan. In 2ch, a Japanese game community, many articles were like "I liked that one but it's 360 I'm not buying that one"

OMG.

So, you are living in Japan and you are not Japanese. Be careful. God be with ya.
Ok, ok. just a joke.
