Gamersyde Diaries: Episode 2

Gamersyde Diaries: Episode 2

2006-11-22 16:40:00 by snoopers

Gamersyde Diaries: Second! This month the menu is rather varied and each of the major platforms gets some coverage, Motorstorm and Resistance for the PS3, a big focus on Red Steel for the Wii, Call of Duty 3 and Gears of War for the 360, and the icing on the cake we'll put the spotlight on Nervous Brickdown, a lovely DS game developed by a small studio in Paris and that we really wanted to show to the world. Also worth mentioning, the video is now available in WMV format, using the classic WMV9 codec so it should work nicely with Flip4Mac, and a 720p version is on its way. As always we are looking forward to your comments!
Update: 720p WMV version added ! Only available on Bittorent.

A few side notes: We mention that Motorstorm is a launch title. It's of course a "launch window" title, with the japanese version being available in a few weeks in Japan already.

Also important, you'll notice that the framerate in the Gears of War part doesn't look too good. This isn't because of the game, but because on the fps conversion from 30 to 25. As soon as we have some money, we'll buy a NTSC HD camera and this won't be a problem anymore. Let me state this again, Gears of War is a totally smooth game ;)

Take one 360, add some chopped PS3, stir in some Wii, a sprinkling of DS Lite. Enjoy :)

Hey tone it down a bit Joypad, this is a gaming site not a matchmaking service.

hey Snoopers, you guys should do more of a viewer interactivity segment to your show, I don't really have any solid ideas but I'd love to have a shot at being a part of the show once in a while. Maybe just a questions section, or chat, or something.

I'm real tired so I can't think of anything good I guess, just thought I'd throw that in there.

Awesome episode man. Guys way thanks for this. Especially the positive reviews for Red Steel and Gears of War. Thanks for pointing out the grenade system sucks because when I first saw it in previews, I thought it sucked from the word go. Very balanced and gamer-centric reviews, that placed more emphasis on fun. Great music selection. I'm almost starting to take these episodes as granted, I hope you don't rush for your next episode. This was most excellent. Great work, Pipomantis and Snoopers and the rest of Gamersyde team! :)

Great show again, but can't you make the subtitles a bit bigger, or I don't know, different anyway.

It's kind off annoying trying to read them and watch at the same time, expecially when you talk so fast.
Maybe I'm just slow or something, and I can cope with it, but it's far from ideal, imo.

Anyone else have this, or is it just me..?

I really have to underline how good I think this is. It's not just like.. "good job guys" either, I really mean it. The format and the way in which this show is presented is so laid back and great to watch, with not just sincere but also justified opinions and views told in such a casual yet credible and enthusiastic way I can just applaud it. Simply suberb.

Yep, i agree completely.

I like the honest opinions that in some cases get quite deep or emotional. The footage also is really good coz it's not just pieced together from old movies, it's all fresh and is relevant to whats being said. The only problem i have is that i cant watch and read at the same time so have to watch it more than once. But i guess you get that all the time with english movies so i guess we're even;) well almost.

Not really, well in my case anyway.
I understand English perfectly, so when I watch an English movie/show or whatever with (Dutch, in my case) subtitles, I kind of read bits of the subtitles and listen to the English anyway, so I don't know but it works perfectly anyway.

But I don't understand French at all, so I have to rely on the subtitles and that is the main difference...

Excellent show again guys. If it was on TV I'd watch it for sure.

Only constructive comment I'd have is maybe get a pair of microphones so your voices are centered to your location on screen. Now they are a bit spread out with the one stereo mic and perhaps also because of the walls reflecting you. With that one improvement it will be a really professional production!

Is that drawing in the bg based on an old Levi's poster? I have it here somewhere....

Xion: DOAX2 will be released in Europe in a few weeks. We are in Europe, so unless we import the game we can't review it because we... don't have anything to review. And since Tecmo doesn't exist in Europe, we don't get the previews/press tours and other stuff the US sites get all the time. Basically don't count on the european press for anything about Tecmo/Team Ninja. We get *nothing* about these games, absolutely nothing at all. And it pisses me off. Big time.
And guess what, I paid the premium price to import the japanese version, and considering the questionable quality of this game I certainly regret my money. And before you say I'm biased, I loved the first DOAX, played it for like 30 hours.
Count on me for a first 10 minutes today or tomorrow, but don't count on me saying much good things about DOAX2.

i wasnt saying your biased at all, i love this site, i was just stating to notice that lack of DOAx2 thats all, but i didnt know the game was not out for you guys so that explains it...either way, keeping this thread on top is rather anoying in a way to me though, i allways look at the top firt because thats supposed to be the newest update. when do you plan on dropping it down like its supposed to> when you get diaries episode 3?

It's "Dark Things Are Coming" from the OST of Battlestar Galactica Season 2, by Bear McCreary.
