Blue Dragon: The first minute!

The weekly update of the Blue Dragon site was late but it was worth it since besides the usual 2 images we get to see the first minute and a few of the game! Let's just hope we can deactivate this annoying voice, but otherwise this looks great!

I'll have to see more of the game to say anything usefull about it, but this beginning looks interesting, I like the atmosphere.. And the Xbox 360 could do with more Asian-style RPG's to attract a wider audience..

PS. Op didnt you show me one that was just crazy good when Shu had the dragon and he turned himself into the dragon and then he did one powerful attack in the air? Show me that video again, it was so long time ago that I dont remember where I saw it.

You see it in the latter parts of this video.
His shadow turned into a full dragon and shu hopped onto his back and there are sure to be many more like it in the game. There is no way in hell for instance that the character would just have one move like that. I'm willing to bet each character has maybe 3 or 4 of them each.

It takes place at 4:18 into the video and knowing sakaguchi thats probably one of his weaker powerup moves. Betting the only reason it was so deadly is because the character levels were raised like mad.

don't understand why people are getting so excited about this, the graphics are average, it has a nice art style tho, but the gameplay looks pretty standard JCRPG, which is just dull :|

I don't like the look of minatour he looks too plasticy (shouldn't he have hooves?, the hands make him looks feaky), nice fur shader on the saber tooth cat though :)
Can't see how anyone can say it looks average, oh well who cares.

ok no i really dont understand why people gush about the water..it doesnt look real, or even move when he steps over it..its just shiny....other than that, it looks very pretty, i hate when people are like "oh yeah it looks ok" just because it doesnt look real or gritty like other games...it has its own art style and it works for the game...ill be getting this when i can for shure, and its a 3 disc game, so im sold, i love long games ^_^, makes it worth the purchase..i expect the game to be great, story and gameplay, but im really hating that voice "item" "nothing"...whoa that is really anoying and stupid lol

Do you own a nintendo ds? If you do you'll understand this more if you don't then you must atleast understand why its so popular with everyone else out there. Okay as you know rpgs like ff3 have recently released for the ds and there are a lot of non rpg games for the ds and people are going absolutely insane over these games why? They are great games that are really fun and most importantly they are living proof that great games don't need amazing graphics for you to have fun with them.
People love the thought of playing a game like ff3 wherever they please on their own terms. Now while keeping in mind that what really matters is that a game is good and people have fun with it just imagine if a ds game looked as good as Blue Dragon would anyone be remotely disappointed in its graphics? Whether it be a standard rpg or not look the way you want it to look can you say the game wont be enjoyable? I'm sure you can't which is the very reason people are excited about :) If a game's graphics aren't what dictates how viable it is on the ds then it shouldn't be what dictates how viable a game is on the 360. Even with that said blue dragon passes the test visually for a 360 title in my opinion.
Look around at any rpg out there project valkyrie, ff12, ff10, dragon quest 8 blue dragon visually looks better than them all I don't get what the problem is. I think the biggest issue has to do with the claymation look they are going for with each character. I don't expect the next blue dragon game to use this style based on what sakaguchi said.

Well its still going to have the same anime style to it, but I think he wont be using the claymation graphics technique the second time around or atleast that what it sounded like. He may just use a different technique one more like the final fantasy games.
Or he might make shu more grown up like his ral grudo counterpart (oh that would be soooo sick)

I remember when Sakaguchi was earlier into the game's development he said they created all these really amazing graphical styles and it was extremely hard deciding which one to use cause they all had their strengths and he really wants to use them all at one point or another. Cry On's hand drawn look is one of the styles.

I think it works really well, it's the closest thing i have seen to CGI in a game. (It has a 3D'ness that i haven't seen before)

i know what you mean lukas some parts are very similar to viva pinata like on the wood etc, but I think this is an engine that Artoon built themselves.

Ofc they putted out 2-3 at the start to familiar you with what hidden things there is,but clearly no rpg has 1000000 hidden stuff all over towns,allthough Sakaguchi did hide 100000 styuff in ff9 for those who looked...
